Filling
- 5 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons flour
Topping
- 6 tablespoons butter, chilled and cut into pieces
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all "filling" ingredients together and place in buttered 8X8 baking dish. For the topping: mix the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl. Blend the butter into the dry ingredients using a mixer until it forms pea size balls. Stir in pecans and sprinkle over filling. Bake for 35 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown. Let cool before serving. To make it extra heavenly, serve with a scoop of vanilla or gingerbread ice cream 🙂
