Spiced Poached Pears

Ingredients
- 2 cans sliced, peeled pears (14 oz.)
- 2 cups red wine
- 1/4 cup sugar, plus 1 tablespoon
- 1 orange (zest and juice)
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- Vanilla ice cream (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium pot over medium-high heat, bring red wine, sugar, orange set and juice, cinnamon and cloves to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook until thick, 15-20 minutes. Add drained pears to bowls and top with thickened sauce. Serve with scoops of vanilla ice cream.
