While Charleston has everything anyone could ever want in a city and more, us locals still crave an escape every now and then. Located just under two hours from downtown and around 15 miles from Beaufort, S.C., Hunting Island State Park is the perfect spot for a Sunday Funday or weekend getaway.
My friend Diana and I went for an overnight (stayed at an Air B&B in Beaufort) and had a grand old time exploring the beach, climbing the lighthouse and hiking some nearby nature trails.
The coolest part of Hunting Island? All the prehistoric looking trees jetting out from the water in all sorts of crazy-looking shapes and formations. A true Instagram lovers paradise.
