Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 1/2 sticks butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar, plus 4 tablespoons for rolling
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/4 cup molasses
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ground ginger, and ground cloves. In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs, water, and molasses and stir beat until combined. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet. Chill the dough for 30 minutes or so. Roll heaping tablespoons of batter into balls before rolling in the remaining sugar. Place on a greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart and slightly flatten with your fingers. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until slightly golden. Allow cookies to cool before serving.
