Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened, cut into cubes
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon half-and-half, or milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a baking sheet with pam. Add the cheese, butter, flour, salt, and red pepper flakes to a food processor and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the half-and-half and pulse until the mixture forms a dough ball, 30 seconds. On a floured work surface, roll the dough out with a rolling pin into an 8X10 rectangle that is about 1/4 inch thick. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough vertically into 8 inch long, 1/2 inch strips wide strips (or you can cut them into any size you wish). Very carefully transfer them to a baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the ends become lightly browned. Cool completely before removing from the baking sheet. Serve in wine glasses like above, or in glass cups for an attractive presentation.
Notes
- These cheese straws will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
