Ingredients
- 8 slices white bread (i also have used wheat)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 4 ounces mozzarella, sliced thin
- 1 Roma tomato, sliced thin
- 8 basil leaves, chopped
- balsamic vinegar (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees and spray a muffin tin with pam. Cut off crusts from the bread, and using your hands or a rolling pin, press down slices until they are thin and slightly doughy. Brush both sides with oil and press slices into the muffin tins. In a small bowl, combine cream cheese, garlic powder, dried basil, salt and pepper until smooth. Drop a teaspoon into each muffin tin and bake until tartlets are golden and cheese is melted, 12-15 minutes. Remove from muffin tins and top with slice of mozzarella cheese, slice of tomato, chopped basil, drizzle of balsamic vinegar, and a little salt and pepper. Serve warm or cold!
