Rolls
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon dry yeast
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups whole wheat flour, or white flour
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 1/2 bananas, mashed
Filling
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange juice
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the warm water, milk and yeast. Set aside for 10 minutes. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the liquid, mashed banana, and butter. Knead by hand until a dough forms, 10 minutes. If the dough is too sticky, add more flour. Form the dough into a ball, place in the bowl, and cover with a damp kitchen towel. Allow to rise for 1 1/2 hours. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9 inch cake pan with pam. On a floured surface, roll the dough out into a 8X8 rectangle. In a small bowl, mix all the "filling" ingredients together. Spread evenly all over the dough, being sure to cover all the edges. Roll the dough into a log and cut into 2 inch pieces. Arrange in cake pan, cover with a damp towel, and allow to rise for another 30 minutes. Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes or until brown. In a small bowl, mix together the glaze ingredients. Wait until the rolls are completely cool before glazing, 30 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature!
